Luxury holidays in Acadia National Park

Stretching 47,000 acres across Maine’s Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park sets New England’s beaming natural beauty against a sweeping Atlantic backdrop. Adventurers favor it for its miles of hiking and pink-granite cliffs; sailors are enticed to its breeze-kissed waters; and, for the rest of us, there’s always superb seafood and blissful beaches. To catch the country’s earliest sunrise, an ascent of Cadillac Mountain offers spectacular scenery as well as first dibs on dawn.

When to go

If you’re here for its summer sun, July and August are peak (for beauty and visitors). Spring brings clement conditions ideal for hiking and exploring the park's sprawling landscapes.

Getting there

  • Planes

International flights tend to touch down at Portland’s jetport, which is around three hours’ from the national park by car. If you’re arriving from within the US, Bangor Airport is a two-hour drive away, and the park’s closest airport.
  • Automobiles

A car will come in handy around here, and you’ll need to buy a pass to access Acadia National Park. Passes are $35 for a week, available at the entrance or online.
