This former red-light district, home to 19th-century cabaret the Moulin Rouge and affectionately known as SoPi, is now a beguiling nightlife hub of contemporary bistros, cobbled squares, glam cocktail bars and a couple of cool museums. South of Boulevard de Clichy, its grand neoclassical buildings also once earned the area the nickname 'New Athens'.
