Luxury holidays in Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore National Memorial looms on Keystone’s town limits and is the undisputed main draw to this wild pocket of South Dakota (although a work-in-progress Native American carving at Crazy Horse is worth your time, too). Brimming with saloon-town swagger, Keystone itself is a former gold-mining outpost. And although the prospectors have left town, there’s still ‘gold’ to be found – in the rich seam of natural beauty that is the Black Hills.

When to go

September and October are quieter, milder months to visit this world-famous monument. June through August are pleasantly hot but also peak season for visitors.
