Our favourite rooms
Elegantly dressed in understated neutrals and motifs that subtly echo the castle’s history, most of the rooms, suites, houses and chalets at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl let the perfectly framed views of the lake do the talking. The opulent two-bedroom Lakeview suite in the Waldhaus building offers the full shebang, with a private balcony. Chalets have a fireplace, private sauna and butler service and some of the larger residences can sleep up to eight.
Poolside
Asaya Spa centres around a 20-metre-long outdoor infinity pool: edged by sunloungers and canopied day-beds, this heated saltwater pool is open year round from 7am until 10pm daily, with pool service available between May and October. A second, indoor pool at the spa is also open daily and, like its counterpart, is heated and child-friendly until 4pm.
Spa
A sense of place is intrinsic to Rosewood hotels and the Asaya Spa at Schloss Fuschl is no exception: herbs are grown or foraged locally – even the salts it uses are Austrian, complemented by OTO, Evidents and Dr Barbara Sturm spa ranges. Between 9am and 9pm, you can check in for a massage, scrub or facial in one of its eight treatment rooms (including three doubles), or unwind in one of its three saunas (including one for women only), its steam room or two pools (indoors and out). An on-site hair salon is at your disposal, and you can keep to your fitness regime at the hotel’s 24-hour studio, kitted out with Technogym equipment and a Peloton Bike. Check out the weekly programme of group yoga, pilates and aqua gym, too.
Packing tips
You’ll want threads for activities from yoga to running to hiking, but leave room to bring home some mountain honey or bottles of grüner veltliner.
Also
For some rooms, in-room beauty treatments are available on request. Golfers should check out the Eugendorf and Mondsee courses which are both around 19 km from the hotel.
Pet‐friendly
Dogs are welcome for €50 a night which includes bed, bowl and toys. Please note that the Asaya Spa and most of the restaurants are pooch-free zones. See more pet-friendly hotels in Salzburg Mountains.
Children
Very welcome; family packages and interconnecting rooms are available, cots can be added to all rooms, and rollaways can be added to some. The pools are child-friendly until 4pm; there’s a selection of toys, and babysitting can be arranged with notice.
Sustainability efforts
The hotel sources meat, fish, dairy and vegetables from farms and suppliers located within a 100-kilometre radius. The majority of flowers used in the hotel’s displays are sourced regionally, and the Schloss Fuschl bee colony supports local honey production. Lake water is used for heating and cooling, and, rather than hog the limelight, this starry castle comes with low-impact lighting, designed with local wildlife in mind.
