Also
Punta Mita’s Pacific coast is said to be among Gwyn-Pal’s favourite beach getaways, and she’s not the only one – keep your eyes peeled for a long-boarding Lady Gaga or a beach bound Richard Gere.
At the hotel
Multiple bars and restaurants, kids’ club, fitness centre, spa, three pools, private beach, free WiFi throughout. In rooms: Bathrobes, TV, minibar.
Our favourite rooms
All ocean-facing and decorated in sandy beach-inspired tones, rooms don’t disappoint. As for size, even the standard options are exceptionally spacious. Honeymooners should opt for one of the Casitas with a plunge pool for that extra bit of privacy. Families are better served by one of the two-bedroom Suites.
Poolside
There are three: one for kids, one for relaxation, and one for adults with a penchant for all things Acapulco with comfy cabanas, an infinity edge, a swim-up bar and one hell of a soundtrack.
Spa
Set across 11 treatment rooms, Ondita seeks to forge a connection between the body, mind and ocean through the likes of their signature wave massage. For the full effect, ask for one of the two treatment rooms overlooking the bay, complete with immersive soaking tubs. Afterward, get moving with a personal trainer or guided class; choose from sunrise meditations, beach yoga, sunrise strength, elemental and Latin dance, surf lessons, bootcamp or frequency-aligning sound baths.
Packing tips
Your best disco heels for twirling the night away under the stars at a La Boquita sundown session.
Also
Fancy a quiet night in? There’s an on-site mercado stocked with local beers and pantry staples to keep you going through a movie or two.
Pet‐friendly
Pets under 15lbs are welcome for a flat fee of $150 per animal. Guests must be present during housekeeping services and leads are required within all communal spaces. See more pet-friendly hotels in Nayarit.
Children
Welcome. Little Smith's can take advantage of Morritos, the hotel’s kids’ club with daily activities such as Mexican folk-art pottery classes and hands-on cooking lessons (did someone say chocobanana?).
Best for
All ages.
Recommended rooms
The two-bedroom properties offer more space for larger families, otherwise cots and extra beds can be added to most categories.
Activities
At the hotel’s kids’ club, Morritos, little Smiths can take part in all manner of regionally-inspired activities from arts and crafts classes, nature experiences and hands-on cooking lessons. Kids between five and 12 can also go in for a three-day surf immersion programme with one of the resort’s local instructors.
Swimming pool
There’s a dedicated family pool for kids to enjoy, and plenty of watersports for them to get stuck into at the beach.
Meals
The restaurant will happily cater to the fussiest of tots – though let’s see how fussy they are when the children’s popsicle carts get wheeled out. Funny that.
No need to pack
Don’t worry about bringing along toys or games to occupy the little ones – drop them off at the resort’s Morritos and get on with sipping your way through La Boquita’s cocktail menu.
Also
Kids won’t miss out when you’re enjoying your welcome margarita – upon arrival, rooms are stocked with local cookies and Felix fruit juices to keep them happy, too.
Sustainability efforts
Dine with a conscience: all food is purchased directly from local vendors.
