10am. Earliest check-in is at 3pm.

More details

Also

Given the outdoor – and largely undisturbed – nature of this stay, areas of the resort may be difficult if you have limited mobility.

Please note

Food isn’t allowed in any of the tents here, in line with ULUM’s Mindful Approach to your pristine surroundings.

Hotel closed

ULUM Moab closes on 28 October 2024, and in 2025 it will be open between 27 March and 27 October.

At the hotel

Walking trails, yoga deck with Vuori mats and blocks to borrow, nightly campfires with s’mores, refillable aluminum water bottles, water refill stations, free hot drinks, guest experience coordinators and a small boutique. In tents: power outlets, evaporative cooling fan, wood-burning stoves, lanterns, coffee- and tea-making kit, hairdryer, bathrobes and Aesop bath products.

Our favourite rooms

There’s no short straw here – every Suite tent has a private deck, a king-size bed and a cozy living space with a wood-burning stove and handcrafted West Elm furnishings.

Poolside

There are three outdoor dipping pools, each set to a different temperature, so you can start the day with a refreshing cold plunge and soothe post-hike muscles with a hot soak.

Spa

There’s no spa, but the free wellness programming is designed to help you tune into the tranquility of the desert landscape. Sessions include yoga classes, sound bath meditations and plant medicine walks.

Packing tips

Despite the desert setting, don't overlook bringing your swimwear, for hitting the plunge pool post-hike.

Also

There’s no WiFi except in the lobby building, and you won’t find any TVs around, meaning evenings tend to be filled with stargazing, fireside music and s’mores.

Pet‐friendly

Dogs are welcome for a fee of $25 each a night, so long as they’re kept on a leash and aren’t left unattended in your tent. See more pet-friendly hotels in Canyonlands National Park.

Children

Welcome; there’s no kids’ club or babysitting, but Suite tents can accommodate up to four, and family-friendly activities are included with your stay at ULUM Moab.

Sustainability efforts

As part of parent company Under Canvas’ Mindful Approach to development and operations, ULUM Moab has been designed to minimize disturbance, maximize open spaces, and flow with the natural topography of the land. Low-flow toilets reduce water usage; cleaning and bath products are selected to reduce damage to the environment; reusable water bottles are provided to cut single-use plastic; low-level lighting limits light pollution, and electric car chargers are available for guest use. In addition, Under Canvas works closely with global non-profit, the Nature Conservancy, to educate and help mitigate the threats of climate change.

Top Table

Eyeing up Looking Glass Arch out on the restaurant’s terrace.

Dress Code

Cool and casual – swap the hiking boots for some pumps or slides if you fancy, but no one minds if you walk up right off the trail.

Hotel restaurant

The resort’s restaurant spins classic Southwestern flavors into elevated modern dishes, with a focus on sustainably sourced produce. Favorites include sage-rubbed bison steak, smoky juniper trout, and pimento and white bean ragout. The dining room has glass walls, so you won’t miss out on the scenery wherever you sit, but dining outside on the patio is always an option. Several nights a week, alfresco dinners are set to live acoustic sets from local musicians and, as with all camping trips worth their salt, every evening winds up with s’mores around the fire pit.

ULUM Moab also has a café, so you’re all set for specialty coffee, matcha, fresh juices and smoothies. This is where you can buy grab ’n’ go bites to take on the trail, too.

Hotel bar

The restaurant serves a selection of wines, local beers and craft cocktails infused with local botanicals like sage, juniper and prickly pear.

Last orders

Breakfast runs from 7am to 11am, and dinner from 5pm to 10pm. The café is open from 7am until noon.

Room service

The resort has a strict no food in tents policy.

Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this safari-style stay in Utah and unpacked their camera film and hand-woven sun hats, a full account of their desert break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside ULUM Moab…

Sometimes, self-care means a total breakaway from the day-to-day rhythm – stuffing a daypack and setting out across canyon-riven national parks, scaling towering sandstone formations, or freewheeling through burnished-red desert landscapes at sunset. Sometimes, it means sunrise yoga, a soak in a steamy plunge pool, and an “it’s five o’clock somewhere” spritz alfresco. Either way, ULUM Moab has you covered.

Daredevils, hit up the adventure concierge to craft your dream excursions into Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. The immersion in Utah’s canyon country is just as complete back at base, though. The restaurant draws on traditional regional flavors, evenings are soundtracked with live music, and every detail is designed to spotlight Looking Glass Rock, the soaring sandstone arch on Ulum's doorstep, and the spectacular desert scenery beyond. Plus, a raft of eco measures protects the landscape, so consciences rest easy here. And thanks to the handcrafted furnishings, Pendleton blankets and full private bathroom in each upscale tent, you’ll rest easy, too.
