Worth getting out of bed for

Each week, a roster of activities runs at the camp, from sunrise yoga to scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and stargazing sessions. The Wild West is alive and well at Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley. If the name sounds hyperbolic, have a look around – lush Montana ranchland stretching out between soaring peaks, the Yellowstone River snaking through. No wonder the region is a recurring star of the silver screen. And you have a front-row seat – high-spec tents, each with a private bathroom and cozy wood-burning stove, are set steps from the riverbank. Head straight out on a quaint wooden boat, or hit the trails with expert guides to explore the alpine wilderness where hotsprings bubble and bears and bison roam.

Keeping the west this wild calls for mindful management, which is why the camp operates with an impressive raft of environmental measures. So when you’re winding down at the end of the day, bluesy tunes playing and the Milky Way brilliant overhead, it’s with the buoying sense that this place is in safe hands. If this is how cowboys are kicking it these days, count us in.
