Need to know

Rooms

71 tents, including 41 suites.

Check–Out

10am. Earliest check-in, 3pm.

More details

Rates don’t include breakfast, but fresh spreads are available daily from $10 to $20 each. You’ll have free access to a daily program of activities, stargazing and (unlimited nightly) s’mores sessions, and as much coffee and tea as you’d like.

Also

Given the outdoor – and largely undisturbed – nature of this camp, areas of the resort may be difficult if you have limited mobility.

Please note

Food isn’t allowed in any of the tents here, in line with Under Canvas’s Mindful Approach to your pristine surroundings.

Hotel closed

The camp will open from 22 May to 27 October 2025.

At the hotel

Walking trails, yoga deck with Lululemon mats and blocks, nightly campfires with s’mores, refillable aluminum water bottles, water refill stations, free hot drinks, board games, guest experience coordinators and a small boutique. In tents: USB battery packs, battery-powered fans, lanterns and organic Essential Oils bath products.

Our favourite rooms

Sleeping under the stars takes on new meaning in the Stargazer tent, where your plush bed is canopied by a sky-window (though admiring the night sky can be done from every tent’s terrace). If you’re a bigger clan of family or friends, sprawl out in a Suite tent, before cozying up to regale each other with adventurous antics from your day.

Packing tips

Make the most of screen-free time and bring a journal, novel or pack of cards for evening entertainment.

Also

There’s no WiFi here, and you won’t find any TVs around, meaning evenings tend to be filled with stargazing and fireside music and s’mores.

Pet‐friendly

Well-behaved pooches are welcome in all tents, for $25 each a night, but must be with you at all times. Leashed dogs are allowed in Yosemite National Park on roads and bike paths; non-paved paths are for humans (and local fauna) only. See more pet-friendly hotels in Yosemite National Park.

Children

Little Smiths are very welcome. The Suite tent is ideal for bigger clans. Family-friendly activities include stargazing, fireside s’mores, games and crafts.

Sustainability efforts

In a bid to protect the rugged beauty of the site, and as part of the company’s Mindful Approach to development and operations, Under Canvas Yosemite has been designed to minimize disturbance, maximize open spaces, and flow with the natural topography of the land. Pull-chain showers and low-flow toilets reduce water usage; cleaning and bath products are selected to reduce damage to the environment, and light pollution is kept to a minimum to protect the night sky.

Back at camp, yoga classes, live music, fireside s’mores and stargazing are backdropped by the serene Sierra Nevada setting.

Local restaurants

Designed to satisfy pre- and post-adventure appetites, a regionally inspired menu back at base means you’re unlikely to dine outside of camp.

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this tented stay in Yosemite National Park and unpacked their hiking boots and flannel shirts, a full account of their bathed-in-nature break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Under Canvas Yosemite in California…

Under Canvas knows how to name-drop national parks, and their latest venture (the first in California, too) Under Canvas Yosemite is no exception. Access to your flora-abundant neighbor is easy from the camp’s prized perch on the western cusp of Yosemite: Big Oak Flat Information Station is a 15-minute shuttle ride away and is your closest gateway to jaw-dropping ravines, glassy lakes, frothy waterfalls and fairytale-like giant sequoias. The always-adventurous can traverse the wild terrain along thigh-toning trails and adrenalin-pumping bike paths; for those looking to reap more soul-soothing benefits of natural immersion, camp staff can help to arrange wild swimming, stargazing and driving tours. Back at base, things are still kept au naturel: no WiFi contributes to the off-grid feel, starry night skies blanket fireside s’mores, and there’s always yoga (or a glass of Californian red) to help loosen your muscles after days at large in this idyllic, rugged landscape…
